the savetu.be project is an ongoing activity.
The site's main focus is to provide functionality to web users that should already be theirs. Namely to allow saving of streamed content to a location of the user's choosing.
The implementation is as much a hack as it is a design study. By creating a w3 compliant solution that does depend only on native browser technology in stead of implementing debatably insecure plugins and security holes - through the use of third party plugins like Java and Flash - development becomes focused on maintainging a direct, robust and elegant solution via a javascript bookmarklet.
The savetu.be project is the testbed of technologies like the basiin framework which has been implemented in various following projects (like this very site).
